God God created and rules over the universe and all that is in it. He has existed forever in three separate, yet equal persons: the Father, Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit. (Luke 3:22; Matt.28:19; 2 Cor.13:14) Jesus Christ Jesus is the Son of God (the Father). After his birth to the virgin Mary, He lived a sinless life as a man on earth and offered himself as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men. He was executed on the cross, but rose from His tomb, very much alive, to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven, where He sits by His Father’s right side, waiting to return to earth again as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (John 1:1-3; John 1:14; Matt.1:18-23; Heb.4:15; 2 Cor.5:21; Luke 24:36-43; Heb.4:14-16, Acts 1:11) The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and Son as God. His exists in this world to make men aware of their need for salvation. When men accept this gift of salvation, they also allow the Holy Spirit to live in them. In this role, He provides believers with understanding of spiritual truth, guidance in doing what is right and power to live each day. (John 16:7-15; Acts 1:3-4; Romans 8:9; Eph. 5:18; Acts 1:8; Gal. 5:22-23) Man Man is created in the image of God, and was designed to live in fellowship with Him. However, through disobedience man became alienated from God. Because of this, all humans are born with a sinful nature, choose to sin against God, and are incapable of regaining their intended relationship with God through their own efforts. (Gen. 1:27; Gen. 3; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23) The Church The church is the body of Christ, made up of all who believe. Believers are organized into local churches for the purpose of worship and sharing God’s truth in love, yet working together for these purposes globally. (1 Cor.12:12-13; Eph.4:11-16) The Holy Bible The Bible is made up of the 66 books contained in the Old and New Testaments. It was written by God, through human authors who were under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was written by God, it is without error in its original form. The Bible is the source of truth and foundation for the Christian life. (2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21-22; Psalm 119: 105 & 160; Proverbs 30:5) Salvation Salvation is God’s gift to man. Man’s sin has earned Him eternal separation from God in Hell. No amount of good deeds or self-improvement can change this. The only way to avoid this is to trust in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness. Acceptance of this gift guarantees eternal life in Heaven. (Romans 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; John 14:6; John 3:16-18) Christian Ordinances We observe the ordinances of Jesus Christ, namely baptism by triune immersion (Matt: 28:19) and communion of the bread and cup. (I Cor. 11:23-26) Heaven and Hell Heaven and Hell are real places. Each person who ever lives will spend eternity in one or the other. Hell is the place of never-ending pain and suffering where man is eternally separated from God. Heaven is the place of unimaginable joy where man spends eternity united with God. (I John 2:25; I John 5:11-13; Rev. 20:15; Romans 6:23) Satan Satan exists as the adversary of God and all His people. Satan’s desire is to deceive people into doubting God’s Word. His defeat was secured by Jesus’ victory over sin and death, and he is destined to an eternity in Hell. (Rev. 20:10)
