Name: Tim Gorniak Position: Youth Pastor Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Family: I am married to my best friend and Gods creation for me Leslie. Our story of how we met is very unique, but it’s entirely too much to type on here so if you want to know it just ask one of us! We have three beautiful daughters; Kyiah is our oldest and enjoys horses and her technologyJ. Makenna is our middle daughter and enjoys school and reading. Rylee is our youngest and loves sharks and hanging out with mom and dad. We all enjoy music and hanging out together. Our favorite place to eat as a family is probably Bob Evans. Vision: My vision for the youth of this community is to take them into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ while having a lot of fun along the way. Leslie and I have a deep passion for teens and want to help them develop into great contributors of society by helping them grow in their faith and by giving them a solid base in life to stand on as they grow. Having struggled along my path to adulthood, I feel that I bring a lot of life experience to the table for the kids to learn from. Leslie and I like to be all the roles in a teens life when needed; be it friend, teacher, or parent, I feel that God has used us for all roles. My Faith Path: The first question my wife asked me when we met was if I believed in Jesus. My answer was no. I thank God everyday that my answer didn’t discourage her and she continued to show me and tell me who He was. June 23, 2001, I decided to let Jesus dwell in my heart forever. About a year later I was baptized at Oak Harbor United Brethren church where Leslie and I were youth leaders under Pastor Donnie. Since my conversion, I have constantly sought out God’s direction for my life. While I haven’t always been a very good listener, in my mind and heart I have kept His promises. I love to debate and constantly learn more and more about the grace of God. Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so does one man sharpen another.” The Favorites: Pro Sports Franchise: Detroit Red Wings – Hockey; New York Yankees – Baseball; Toledo Walleye – ECHL Hockey (I know it says PRO but I have to include the Walleye!) College Sports Team: Bowling Green University – Hockey; Boston College – Hockey Song: Man there is entirely too many to list; God of This City – Chris Tomlin; Jesus Messiah – Chris Tomlin (and I love when we sing it at church, just ask Stacy!) This is Your Life – Switchfoot; Your Love is a Song – Switchfoot; Anything by Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Taking Back Sunday, just to name a few, but I really could go on forever. Music is a huge passion of mine! Movie: Lord of the Rings, any comedy! Book: This is another one I could go on forever about. But I’ll keep it short. The Bible, anything by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, William Barclay or Martin Luther. I am definitely not a fiction reader, I only read nonfiction. Grilled meat and vegetable: (Jake told me I had to add a vegetable because I’m a family man!) So you cannot go wrong with any medium/well steak and grilled asparagus. But I did have a 2 ½ pound lobster in Boston that was the best animal I have ever eaten! If I could have one superpower what would it be? : My superpower would be invisibility. That way I could disappear in the shadows of the night like a ninja. If you had to choose one section of scripture from the Bible as your “Life Verse”, what would it be? : I actually have more than one, so I have to give more than one! 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. - Jeremiah 29:11-13 (NIV) 11 Command and teach these things. 12 Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.
